Downloading From the Public Access Terminals

Due to the set-up of the computers, some download procedures normally possible on the CCNA cannot be done from the PATs. Namely, if you attempt to use the upload/download feature, or download directly from PINE, it will not work. To get around this, we have devised a new method for downloading personal files:

  1. Go to your Personal Files, or your Inbox.
  2. Highlight the file you want downloaded.
  3. Press d
  4. Select "Kermit ASCII download".
  5. When you have finished your session, insert a disk and select "Backup Download Directory to Floppy".

For downloading, you will have to bring your own disks. Make sure they are blank and will work with the terminal you will be using. Note: There have been problems with binary downloads overloading the system. Please ask for permission before attempting one.

Uploading is currently not possible from the PATs.

To mail web page to yourself, press "p" and follow the instructions.
