Information Provider

An Information Provider is an organization which makes information available to the public via an official web page on the Calgary Community-Net system.

All new information providers must be Calgary non-profit organizations, defined as Calgary-based or Calgary-area-based organizations that are registered as non-profit organizations under the relevant legislative act; or, if not, organizations that in the opinion of the community-net board act in a manner consistent with a non-profit community group.

Standard $10 membership fee plus $115 access fee required
Full web pages with some generic scripts available
The Organization receives an e-mail address
CCNA provides HTML templates and some scripts or script related items (such as form-to-email gateway; subdirectories; search forms; hit counting)
Can apply for a virtual domain name.

Information Providers can be supported by a CCNA program called the "Information Providers Support Team" designed to help them mount web sites. The program would consist of volunteers experienced with authoring HTML. These volunteers will consult with information providers, provide technical assistance in setting up their web sites, and help them develop the expertise within their own organizations to maintain web sites.
