Volunteer Opportunities


The Calgary Community Network Association is currently looking for volunteers for the Helpdesk. Good interpersonal skills, wide computer experience (or someone keen to learn), and a willingness to help beginner Internet users would make you an asset.

The Calgary Community Network Association is easy to join. Memberships are $10.00 a year!

You have the opportunity to take advantage of great rates on various Internet connection accounts. Non-Profit organizations that become Information Providers have access to unlimited web page space. Newbies to the Internet can take advantage of our experienced volunteers. Plus we are involved in projects that could benefit from your support.

The Calgary Community Network Association was established in 1995 (originally as Calgary Freenet). Isn't it time you joined?

How to Save Money at the Calgary Stampede

 Taking in the "Greatest Outdoor Show in the Universe" shouldn't cost the entire ranch. Here are some tips to hopefully make your fun at the Stampede more affordable.

Stampede Parade

Start the festivities off, July 6 morning, by watching the Calgary Stampede Parade -- marching bands, horses, cowboys, First Nations, horses, floats, dignitaries, horses, celebrities, more horses, street cleaners, clowns, clubs and associations, and even more horses.You can join millions world-wide by watching it on the local television stations, but it's much more fun joining the thousands that line 6th and 9th Avenues downtown. People usually start snagging a curbside seat around 7:00 or 8:00 AM.

Entry Fees

Entry fees are $10, $5 for children. You can save money by going on value Days:

  • Thursday, July 5, 2001 - Sneak a Peak - $5.00 - Gates open at 5pm
  • Sunday, July 8, 2001 - Family Day - Free admission to Stampede Park until 9:00am
  • Tuesday, July 10, 2001 - Western Heritage Day (Seniors Day) - Free admission and extras for those 65 and over
  • Wednesday, July 11 - Kids day - FREE admission for children 12 and under and accompanying parents until 9:00am
Food

Take advantage of the free stampede breakfasts around town. All breakfasts run from 9am-11:30am.

Food on the grounds is expensive. Bringing your own lunch and water/pop will save you lots of money.

 Downtown
The Calgary Exhibition & Stampede Downtown Attractions Committee plan all kinds of entertainment and activities on the Stephen Avenue Mall; from free pancake breakfasts to square dancing. Visit their Downton Attractions page for schedules.

Also, enjoy great Calgary talent like DAN THE ONE MAN BAND, LOS MORENOS and more daily on the Stephen Avenue Mall (8th Avenue between MacLeod Trail S.E and 4th Street S.W.).

There are also special events happening at lunch-time on Olympic Plaza (8th Avenue and Macleod Trail S.E.).

Stampede Rides

If you are planning to take in all the rides, an "All Day Midway Rider" pass is $28.00 "All Day Midway Rider" does not include gate admission and are valid only on these days:

  • Thursday, July 5;
  • Friday, July 6;
  • Monday July 9 to Friday, July 13.
On July 11th, Kids Day Midway Special purchase 30 credits for $15.00.

Getting Around

Calgary Transit is the best deal for getting around.

Fare Rates:

  • $1.75 for Adults
  • $1.10 for Youths
  • FREE for Kids 6 years of age

  • $5.00 for an Adult Day Pass
  • $3.00 for a Youth Day Pass
The C-Train is FREE downtown on Seventh Avenue between 10th Street S.W. and Macleod Trail S.E.


The Calgary Stampede runs from July 6 to July 15. Thursday July 5 is Sneak-a-Peek Thursday. For more Stampede information visit:
