If you are using Windows and the arrow keys on your keyboard don't work properly, the problem could be in one of two areas:
1. Terminal Emulation
Your communication software must have the proper Settings selected in order
to enable a clean connection to the CCNA. Check your Settings and see if
you have the Terminal Emulation Setting set at either VT100 or VT102.
If you don't have either one of these as a Setting selection to choose from, find a software package that does have one or both of these Terminal Emulation Setting selections.
2. The next place to look is in your Windows software.
Follow these instructions and make only the changes suggested. Then log in
to the CCNA and give it another try.
Under Windows 3.1..
- Go to Program Manager
- Go to Accessories
- Go to Terminal
- Go to Settings
- Go to Terminal Emulation under Settings
- check to see if you have VT100 or VT102 selected.
- if you don't, select it. If you do, return to Settings.
Go to Terminal Preferences under Settings
- at the bottom of the page should be a Setting which says:
"Use Function, Arrow and CTRL Keys for Windows"
- De-select this Setting (or turn it off).
This will enable your arrow keys to function properly when you connect to
the CCNA and will not interfere with the normal function of your keyboard
in any other application you may use in Windows.
