Introduction

The following instructions explain how to configure Windows 98 to connect to CCNA's Dialup service using the Dial-up Networking

These instructions assume your modem is installed and operating correctly.


System Requirements

The minimum system requirements are:


Dial-up Networking

To connect to CCNA'S Dialup service with Windows 98, you need to use Dial-up Networking.

To get to Dial-up Networking:

This will open the Dial-up Networking Window shown in Figure 2.

Double Click on Make New Connection.

Testing your connection

To test your connection:

Your modem will then attempt to connect to CCNA'S Dialup service.  While connecting the window shown as Figure 8 will appear.

 If the connection is successful the icon shown a Figure 9 will appear in your system tray in the bottom right hand corner of your screen.  If a successful connection is made your User name and Password, if Save password is checked, will be saved for future connections. You can now begin using PPP applications like a web browser or your email program.

To disconnect from a connection:

Troubleshooting

If repeated dialup attempts fail, you may have entered your CCNA username or password incorrectly; re-enter your username and password and try again. If the CCNA username and password are correct, check the other settings.

To check your settings:

If a dialup attempt connects and then quits or the connection is unreliable, your modem settings may need changing.

If you tried all the above changes but still cannot connect, contact CCNA.
