The following instructions explain how to configure Red Hat Linux 9.0 to connect to the CCNA's Dialup service.
Note: These instructions are provided on an as-is basis only.
These instructions will assume that you have:
These instructions will also assume your modem is installed already and operating correctly.
To connect to CCNA's Dialup service with Linux, you need to use Network Configuration.
To configure the network settings:
In the "Network Configuration" window (see Fig.1):

The device ppp0 with the nickname "CCNA" should then appear in the Network Configuration window (see Fig.6)

When finished, close the "Network Configuration" window.
To connect to the dialup service:
Your modem will then attempt to connect to CCNA's dialup service.
When you see the line "Starting PPP immediately", the connection is successful and you can begin using PPP applications such a web browser or your email client.
While connected, leave the Terminal window open.
To disconnect from a dialup connection:
The connection to CCNA's dialup service will then close.
Calgary Community-Net currently does not support Linux.
If you need help connecting to the dialup service with Linux, try Red Hat Support or google the Internet.
