A decision made by the Board of Directors to restrict registered users to 4 logins (4 hours) per 24 hour period is not a violation of the Free-net ideology or mandate. Quite honestly, this will not affect very many users in any shape or form.
The bottom line is we have a number of abusers of the CCNA system who are impeding the ability of other users trying to access the system. Some users have routinely logged in over 150 times a week and this abuse of the system is not fair to other non-paying users or to Members of the CCNA Association, whose privileges include extra access privileges to the Free-Net system.
Along with sponsors and donators, the Members of the CCNA Association have, and continue, to pay the costs of operating the Free-Net system. The Free-Net is a free community service the CCNA Association brings to Calgary, but it is certainly not free of operational costs. Members and sponsors have a collective voice in terms of the policies the CCNA Association adopts.
Restricting access to four logins per 24 hour period for registered users is such a policy. If you disagree with this policy, you have the opportunity to change it if you too become a Member of the CCNA Association and put forth such a motion at next year's Annual General Meeting.
