Sending Binary Files by E-Mail as an Attachment
A. Uploading and Sending Binary Files
1. In Lynx use the Uploading and Downloading Files
utility to upload the binary (or ascii) file from the home computer to the
Free-Net computer.
2. Attaching the file to a message

Once the above file transfer is complete, go to Pine and press the letter
c (to compose) a message or r (to reply) to a message and enter the e-mail
address of the person you are sending the file to.

Move the cursor to the Attacmnt: field and press ^T , select the uploaded
file and press enter.
For example, if the name of the uploaded file is giffaq.zip then, in the
Attachment field, the following message will appear
1. /u/user-id/giffaq.zip (9.5KB)""

In the Subject field, enter a subject.

In the Message field, enter your message.

Once you have completed the message, send the e-mail message in the usual
way with the binary file as an attachment.
Downloading Binary Files received through E-Mail
1. Separate the Attachment from the received message.

At the PINE Main Menu, type the letter i (Folder Index)

Highlight the e-mail message which has the binary file you want to download.
Press the Enter/Return key.

Press the letter v (View ). Two lines of text will appear. Highlight the
second item. Press the letter s (Save) to save the binary file in your home
directory. At the bottom of the screen the following message will appear
"Copy attachment to file in home directory: giffaq.zip" Press the Enter/Return
key.
Hint: Keep file names to within eight characters with an extension
which reflects what type of file it is, i.e. .zip, .gif, .jpg, etc.
2. Leave Pine and use the Uploading and Downloading
Files utility in Lynx to download the binary (or ascii) file from the
Free-Net computer to your home computer .
