Welcome to the Yemen Web Page! The purposes of this Site is a to introduce our tradition and history to those who know little about Yemen, to share articles and news coverage on Yemen both from Arabic/English news papers, and to educate Yemeni children born away from home about their ancestors. This Site is not affiliated to any kind of religious nor political groups, however, I welcome views and opinions to improve this Site.

Yemen is one a Middle-eastern country, located at the tip of Arabia Peninsula. In ancient times, that part of the Arabian peninsula now occupied by Yemen was known as Arabian Felix (happy and prosperous Arabia). It was the source of frankincense and myrrh-gum resins that were highly valued by civilizations of the eastern Mediterranean Basin, and it was erroneously believed to be the source of spices, silks, precious stones, and a variety of exotic items from South and Southeast Asia that were brought to the commercial and trading centers of the Levant by South Arab merchants. The kingdom of Saba, the biblical Sheba, was but one of of several kingdoms that flourished in the area during the first millennium B.C.. Yemen was the home of Sheba.

By nature, most Yemenis are emigrants. Aproximently, one third of all Yemenis live away from home. Needless to say, nearly all of us are very much attached to our home land. Despite the fact that most Yemenis who live abroad are left their country under extreme hardship, however, all of us choose to think that Yemen is good.
